Gutter width can take up 1 4 to 1 2 from the page therefore there must be an extra 1 4 1 2 of safety margin space on the side of the page where the gutter spine will be. Depending on the size of the book the gutter can be anywhere from 1 4 1 2. Generally speaking 0 5 inches for your gutter margin is recommended for most books. In the crop tool increase the page width to 9 11 inches with the center box checked.
